How Imperial Venues will help your events embrace sustainability in 2020

Never has it been more critical to ensure that your events are as sustainable as possible and we have recently implemented a variety of simple but effective changes for 2020 to provide a ‘greener’ experience for event organisers and delegates.

Our next steps in our commitment to improved sustainability for 2020 are:

  • Compostable paper cups for events over 200 delegates.
  • Reusable crockery will be used for events under 200 delegates.
  • Food trolleys with washable fabric covers have been introduced to transport catering around campus, without the need for clingfilm.
  • Removed single-use sugar sachets in favour of sugar cubes.
  • Banned single-use wooden stirrers in favour of stainless steel and reusable teaspoons.
  • Fairtrade tea and coffee

We are also taking ‘locally sourced’ to the next level with our Queen’s Tower sourdough bread. Fermented at the top of the Queen’s Tower at the South Kensington campus, the bread features in several menu items which are available for events.

Contact our events team to find out more and how we can support your sustainability goals in your events.

As an academic venue, we adopt Imperial College’s campus-wide Environmental Policy, which invests itself in reducing the amount of waste, carbon emissions, energy use and other factors that impact negatively on the environment.
